Sometimes, as a result of limited funding or for reasons to better share best practices or capacity development, the Member Councils, with concurrence and approval from their respective Councils will ask the Maritime Aboriginal Peoples Council to administer a specialized program.
In the case of “Oceans and Aquatic Resources Management”, MAPC has contracted with appropriate government agencies to administer a region wide program, benefiting the regional Council Members and their communities continuing to use the five regional watersheds (Bay of Fundy, Eastern Shore Atlantic Ocean, Northumberland Strait, Bai De Chaleur and Atlantic Ocean).
